Balanced Nutrition & Energy. A Recipe for health and productivity
For beef, energy can help produce
• Stronger, healthier calves at birth.
• Heavier calves at weaning.
• Cows that cycle better for improved conception rates.
• A higher percentage of early births.
• Bulls which are in better condition to serve your cows.
For dairy, energy can produce
• Replacement heifers that grow-out early and economically
• Body condition on dry cows so they can return to lactation, producing at the maximum potential.
• Healthier herds helped by essential trace minerals to guard against reproductive disorders.
• Prompt re-breeding, thanks to vital nutrients.
For sheep, energy can help
• Meet the energy crisis at lambing and twin lamb disease.
• Reduce labour.
• Balance out variations in roughage quality.
• Provide 24 hour access even for shy feeders.
• Supply energy for flushing and pre-tupping.
Feed Bucket Management
Feed supplement buckets are designed for “ad-lib” administration in conjunction with sound animal husbandry.
Consumption is controlled by a number of factors:
• Composition of the supplement.
• Quality and quantity of available roughage.
• Weather conditions.
• Existing feeding regime.
• Previous management practices.
At first, place 20/25kg bucket: at a ratio of 1 bucket per 10 head of cattle or per 25 ewes. 100kg bucket: 1 bucket per 30 head of cattle or per 50 ewes. 500kg bucket: 1 bucket per 50 head of cattle or per 100 ewes.
Once animals have become accustomed to an energy feed supplement - consumption can be managed by:
• Increasing or reducing the number of buckets available.
• Relocating them either closer to, or further away from, supplies of water or roughage.
ALWAYS
• Provide unlimited drinking water.
• Supply adequate quantities of as good quality roughage as you can.
• Administer sufficient levels of mineral supplementation on an ad-lib basis.
• Monitor consumption and adjust, as necessary, using the methods outlined above.
Subject to formula selected and animal weight, intake of these products should range between 0.5-1 kg/head/day for cattle and 30-90gms/head/day for sheep.
